Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a State Park Permit?
Yes. Every motorized vehicle that enters Wilson State Park needs a daily vehicle permit ($5 per day). That can be obtained at the Park office, at the entrance of the park. The office closes at 6:00 pm - if you arrive later, please purchase a day pass at the self pay station. You can pick up the pass in advance at any state park, or purchase a pass online.
Lovegrass Camping
If you are planning to camp in the Primitive Camping areas, adjacent to the festival grounds, there are two campground options - Buffalograss and Big Bluestem. Both are primitive-only sites but restrooms or porta potties are available for use nearby. Camping is available for $30 per night, per camping unit, from Thursday August 6th at 12:00 pm through Sunday, August 8th at 2:00 pm. Stay all three nights for $75! Fees are paid directly to Lovegrass Music Festival Association and a camping permit sticker must be purchased from the Lovegrass Crew prior to entry. There are a limited number of these camping permits and they are all first-come-first-serve! No saving of spaces will be allowed. Daily vehicle permits are still required to be paid to the Wilson State Park office.
Space is extremely limited, we ask that you keep your camping area to a minimum. Please try to park on the mowed grass along the roadways to keep the campgrounds free for camping units. There will be campground attendants on site to help if you have any questions.
Campgrounds are approximately a 3-5 minute walk to the main stage and Stage2Go is in the Big Bluestem Area. Bicycles are great, just make sure they have a light for the nighttime as required by the State Park and there are no street lights so it can get pretty dark. Please watch out for traffic, as it can get congested.
Parking Information
Parking is available near the festival grounds in the Dakota area and in the State Park. It is limited,
so please carpool, walk, or bike to the festival area! Parking areas will be marked. It is essential you do not obstruct the flow of traffic and be COMPLETELY pulled off of the pavement if you do park. Parking is permitted on any areas of grass that have been mowed. Please plan to walk a distance, as there is not parking directly on the festival grounds, with the exception of handicap parking. Please have your handicap placard displayed for parking attendants to recognize and direct you accordingly.
About the Festival Grounds
Everyone must enter and exit through the designated gate. Please stay out of areas fenced off in orange. We will have an increased presence of staff and security placed throughout the festival grounds, in teal or lime colored shirts, to assist if you have questions or concerns.
PACK IN AND PACK OUT! If you are planning on bringing a new canopy, grill, or other apparatus, please leave the box at home or pack it back in the box to return home. The park dumpsters fill quickly, so please try to keep litter to a minimum. Kans for Kids, a fundraiser for childhood cancer, will have aluminum can recycling containers around the festival grounds. Please no glass or breakable containers in the festival grounds or near the water. Let’s all do our part to keep the park beautiful.
We ask that you refrain from single use plastic water bottles to minimize trash and promote sustainability. A filtered water station will be available to refill water bottles near the activity tent.
Due to state park restrictions, food and beverage cannot be sold at the festival, but you may bring your own food and beverage into the festival area. Please no large coolers, as space is limited. The nearby marina offers snacks, beverages, and grocery items as does Knothead’s Baitshop, located just outside the park. Dining and grocery options can also be found in the nearby towns of Lucas, Wilson and Dorrance.
Can I bring my dog/pet?
Pets, with the exception of service animals, are not allowed in the festival area. Pets are allowed in the other areas of Wilson State Park, but must be restrained by a camper, kennel, hand held leash, or tether, no more than 10 feet in length. Please make sure to pick up after your pets!
