LMFA Receives Russell County Grant
Lovegrass Music Festival Association is pleased to announce it has received a $3,000 grant from the Russell County Community Foundation. These funds will support the 5th annual Lovegrass Music Festival, held at Wilson State Park, August 11 - 13, 2021.
“Each year it is a struggle to raise the funds necessary to host such an event,” says Aimee Riegel, Lovegrass Music Festival Association Executive Director. “However, due to the tremendous support of local agencies such as the Russell County Community Foundation, Dane G Hansen Foundation, Russell County Economic Development & CVB, Wilson Lake Area Association, local businesses and individuals, coupled with the diligent efforts of our volunteer board of directors and committees, the event always becomes a memorable reality, and a pure grassroots extravaganza!”
Lovegrass Music Festival Association began as a simple idea and in 2017 the first festival was held at beautiful Wilson State Park. Each year on the second weekend in August, music lovers flock to rural Kansas to enjoy a completely FREE music festival which would cost them hundreds to attend anywhere else. The festival continues to grow each year and brings attendees and bluegrass musicians from all over the Midwest to Russell County, Kansas.
“We are so thankful, as the grant from the Russell County Community Foundation will allow our festival to grow while keeping it completely free,” said Riegel. “The festival not only provides entertainment and exposure to the arts, but also promotes tourism and makes an economic impact on Northwest Kansas.”
Since 2001, Russell County Area Community Foundation has built stronger communities and helped donors make a difference through charitable giving in Russell County. Each year, the foundation distributes thousands of dollars back to our region through community grants.
The Dane G. Hansen Foundation of Logan has established a partnership with the Greater Salina Community Foundation (GSCF) and the Greater Northwest Kansas Community Foundation to help improve the quality of life for communities in north-central and northwest Kansas. Each one of GSCF’s affiliate foundations, including the Russell County Area Community Foundation, is allocated funding for grants to distribute to charitable projects in its service area through a competitive application process.
